New Iberia - Private services will be held at a later date for Murphy Romero, 84, who passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, in New Iberia.
A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 3:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Saturday.
A longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero was born on March 12, 1931, in Abbeville, to Loyd "Noi" and Hilda David Romero. He served our country in the National Guard, and worked as a machinist for Red Foxx and Whipco. Mr. Romero loved horse racing, and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mildred LeBouef Romero of New Iberia; children, David Romero and wife Suzanne of Lydia, Chris Romero of Coteau, Kim Romero and wife Anna of Delcambre, Sondra Landry and husband Allen of New Iberia; brothers, Rufus Romero and wife Norma of New Iberia, Daniel Romero and wife Debra Norris of Delcambre; sisters, Emilda LeBouef and husband Romeal of New Iberia, Merline Moore and husband Glynn of Erath; 12 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother, Lilly Mae Romero; infant son and infant daughter, Kevin Romero and Tina Romero; and a step sister, Lucy Jean LeBlanc.
