Murphy Romero

Loreauville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday, July 11, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loreauville for Murphy I. Romero, 68, who died Thursday, July 7, 2011 in New Iberia . Rev. Paul Onuegbe will be the Celebrant. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum. Born on October 10, 1942 , Murphy was a native and lifelong resident of New Iberia . He was a commercial fisherman who truly loved his work; it was his passion as well as his career. Murphy enjoyed going to the casino and was an avid LSU and Saints fan. Survivors include wife, Gayle Cutrera Romero of New Iberia; his son, Trenton Romero of New Iberia; his daughter, Candice Norris and husband Lynn H. of Stillwater, Oklahoma; his brothers, Eric Romero and wife Dolores, Ernest Romero and wife Barbara, Lloyd James Romero and wife Linda; his sisters, Janet Mestayer, Genevieve Price and husband Ronald; grandchildren, Keirstynn Romero-Willie, Kilynn Norris, Kaytlyn Norris, Alissa Norris, Brendon Norris, Jadon Norris, Joshua Norris, Kandiss Romero, Brett Romero, Devin Romero; great grandchildren, Kodi Romero and Remy Willie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Addie Benoit Romero and his son, Brett G. Romero. Pallbearers will be family and friends, A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia . A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Sunday. Visitation will continue Monday from 8:00 AM until 10:15 AM .
