Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2008, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia for Myrtle Jones Joseph, 75, who was called home by her heavenly Father on Friday, November 28, 2008 at Amelia Manor in Lafayette.
Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Fr. Aaron Melancon , pastor of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, will officiate the services. Myrtles grandchildren and godchildren will serve as gift bearers.
Myrtle, also known as T-Myrt, Mommie and Mimi, was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a retiree of St. Martin Parish School Board. She enjoyed cooking, baking and cleaning. Myrtle was known as the peacemaker in the family. She was a faithful churchgoer and prayed the rosary constantly. She was a past member of the St. Anne Society and Ladies Auxiliary of Cecilia.
Survivors include her son, Tadara TD Joseph of Cecilia; her daughters, Perry Joseph of Lafayette and Scarlette Joseph St. Julian ( Raymond) of New Caney, TX; her brothers, Polite Jones, Jr. ( Rose) of Parks and Lawrence Cormier ( Pearl) of Houston, TX; her sisters, Mary Jane Jones of Breaux Bridge, MaeOla Cormier Hypolite (T-Roy) of Houston, TX and Theresa Randall of St. Martinville; her grandchildren, Latonia Michelle Landry, Levonia Faye Landry, Jerniece Jacob, Jason Jacob, Trenton Joseph, Keaghan Joseph and Jude St. Julian; her great-grandchildren, Jordan Landry, Cydney Harris, Alonte Landry and Chandler Jacob; and her godchildren Al Joseph Williams of Breaux Bridge and Judy Phillips of Parks, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Joseph; her parents, Polite Jones, Sr. and Selika Babineaux; her son, Danny James Joseph; her sisters, Bertha Cormier Williams and Mildred Gabriel Journet ; her brothers, Robert Jones and Horace Cormier, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Joseph Babineaux and Alphonsine Alexander; and her paternal grandparents, Paul Jones and Coral Lee Lewis.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Friday and continue at 7:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday.
The family would like to extend a Special Thanks to Chester Calais and his family of Breaux Bridge for their love, care and support.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Jones, Sr., Stanley Jones, Blake Lewis, Robert Cormier, Amara Cormier, Hiawatha Jones, Sr. and Tige Hypolite.
Honorary pallbearers will be Polite Jones, Jr., Lawrence Cormier, Jason Jacob, Jude St. Julian, Trenton and Keaghan Joseph.
