Myrtle "Mom Mo" Serrette Lasseigne

Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 15, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge for Myrtle "Mom Mo" Serrette Lasseigne, 85, who passed away on Friday, August, 11, 2023 at her residence. 

A visitation will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Monday from 4:00 pm until the time of service on Tuesday.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Monday evening.

Mom Myrtle was one of a kind; she was a devoted wife and mother. To know her was to love her.  She had a passion for family, friends, and cooking.  She loved to fish and on afternoons you could find her on the houseboat fishing with her grandkids.  She loved to cook and was the best around.  She always said the way to someone's heart was through their stomach.  Her crawfish bisque was The Best around, ask anybody.  If they had a cook-off, she was in it and was the champion of the rabbit cook-off for years, no one wanted to compete against her, so they eventually made her a judge.  She spent almost 35 years being a caregiver.  She never met a stranger she didn't know.  She considered everybody family and opened her arms and house to anybody who needed it.  You knew when she liked you and definitely knew when she didn't like you.  She had 8 kids and even though she never called them by the right name they knew better than to correct her.  The only complete sentence she knew how to make was the a few colorful words. You never left her presence hungry or almost in tears from all the laughter.  The only for sure way to guarantee she liked you was if you brought her some Miller Lites and you had better make sure they were the ponies!  She would stick them in her red and white igloo slide ice chest that had Myrtle’s meds written on the side, once she had too many her favorite thing to do was teach the younger kids how to drive, she worked the pedals while they sat on her lap steering the ole mercury!  Her house was always the place to be for family functions, we always had way too much good food and worked it off by playing ball in the backyard.  You could always find her at Red's Levee Bar having a few ponies with good friends and dancing.  Her favorite way to spend her time and money was at the casino.  She was one lucky woman!  With a heart full of love, she will be dearly missed. 

Rev. Michael Richard will officiate at the funeral service. Readers will be Nicole Latiolais, Seth Dore, and Randi Lasseigne. Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Henderson.

She is survived by her sons, Carey Charles Lasseigne, Sr. (Earline), Simeon Timothy Lasseigne (Carlena) and Michael Sean Lasseigne (Renee`); daughters, Cynthia Ann Robin (Johnny), Pamela Marie Cormier (Davy), Paula Ann Faucheaux (Eugene), Twahana Eve Lasseigne, and Monique Louise Olivier (Brandon); brother, Elrod Serrette; and her 18 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Paul Lasseigne; parents, Sterling and Frances Serrette; and son-in-law, Johnny Robin.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Faucheaux, Jordan Latiolais, Benny Prejean, Dusty Dauphine, Sim Lasseigne, and Sean Lasseigne.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Boudreaux, Ronnie Boudreaux, Telly Cormier, Gage Patin, Juel Patin, Tristian Angelle, Johnny Boy Robin, Carey Charles Lasseigne, Jr., Paul Lasseigne, Michael Lasseigne, Andon Robin, Brandon Olivier and Matthew White.
