St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Nelson "Spot" Joseph LeBlanc, 74, who passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at his residence.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 7:00 am until 10:00 am, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm on Friday.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Monica Delahoussaye and Lacey Theriot. Gift Bearers will be Jade Borel and, Ava and Briggs Theriot. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Mr. LeBlanc was a native and lifelong resident of St. Martinville. He worked on the dredge boats with his dad. Then he learned to weld and that became his trade. He worked at Red Fox, Par, Frank's, Mule Services, and Ace Machine Shop. Nelson was married to his first wife, Mary Ann Blanchard, for 45 years. He later married Betty B. LeBlanc and they were married for 7 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He also loved to dance and listen to French music. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Boudoin LeBlanc; his daughter, Deanna L. Delahoussaye and husband Danny; two grandchildren, Lacey D. Theriot and husband Jake and Jade D. Borel and husband Blaine; three great grandchildren, Ava Theriot, Briggs Theriot, and Carter Borel; his step children, Milton J. Boudoin, Jr., Mona Simon, Tammy Boudoin, Connif Boudoin, Dana Carte and Brandi Fitch; two brothers, Charles "Hippie" LeBlanc and wife Dale, and Robert "Bobby" LeBlanc and wife Julie; sisters, Mary Lou Frederick, Aline Braquet, and husband Larry, and Dorothy Jeansonne.
He was preceded in death by father, Nicholas LeBlanc, Sr.; his mother, Emilie LeBlanc; his wife, Mary Ann Blanchard LeBlanc; and his brother, Nicholas LeBlanc, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Delahoussaye, Jake Theriot, Blaine Borel, David Bourque, Chad Viator, and Danny Delahoussaye.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles "Hippie" LeBlanc and Robert "Bobby" LeBlanc.
