Henderson - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson, for Nelson Joseph Mason, 74, who passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Henderson. Father Keith Landry, a longtime family friend, will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Nelson was born on January 29, 1936. He worked for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries for 26 years. He loved to hunt and be with family and friends. He leaves behind a loving wife of 57 years, Aline Huval Mason of Henderson. ; A niece who was raised like a daughter, Cynthia 'Sissy' Quebedeaux of Henderson; one sister, Margaret Mason Ventress of Breaux Bridge; two brothers-in-law, Lennis 'Chute' Huval and wife, Mary, of Breaux Bridge, and Louis Huval of Henderson; two nieces, Patricia Feigler and Tammy Ventress, of Breaux Bridge; three nephews, Kyle R. McNew, T. J. McNew, and wife, Kristin, and David Ventress and wife, Samantha; three great nieces, Kassidy, Kayle, and Kristin Ventress, and one great nephew, Tyler Ventress. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Pearl Marks Mason. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 a .m. until 10 p.m. on Tuesday and continue at 8 a .m. until 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be David and Tyler Ventress, Kyle and T. J. McNew, and Lennis and Louis Huval. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin McNew. Pellerin Funeral Home of Henderson is in charge of arrangements.
