Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, October 14, 2024, at Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge for Nelson Michael "Mickey" Mire, 84, who passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Avoyelles Manor Nursing Home.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Monday from 7:00 am until time of service.
A rosary will be prayed at 12:30 PM on Monday.
Deacon Butch Hebert will officiate at the funeral service.
Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mickey was born on June 28, 1940, in Saint Martinville. Mickey was a man whose spirit was imbued with creativity and a deep appreciation for the beauty in life, passionately bringing together his love for engineering and art.
From an early age, Mickey exhibited an unwavering fondness for classic cars, which blossomed into a lifetime hobby. He found joy in working on old vehicles, meticulously restoring them to their former glory. His keen eye for detail and engineering acumen allowed him to breathe new life into machines that many thought had seen their final days.
Alongside his mechanical pursuits, Mickey was an artist at heart. He possessed an exceptional talent for drawing and painting, creating beautiful works of art that reflected his unique vision and interpretation of the world around him. His artistic endeavors provided an outlet for his creativity, allowing him to express himself in ways that words often could not capture. Friends and family cherished his creations, often adorning their homes with pieces that showcased his passion and skill.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Meek; sisters, Elizabeth Mire (Henry) and Gayle Dowiatt; three grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Mire and Nolia Verret Mire; brother, Thomas Mire; and infant twin siblings.
Pallbearers will be Derek Dore, Darren Dore, Jimmy Dowiatt, and Dean Leblanc.
