Cecilia - A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 10, 2020, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia for Nelson Trahan, 62, who passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday and continue on Monday at 8:00 am until 1:30 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Sunday. Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. Nelson was a hardworking man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his brother, Michael Trahan, Sr.; sisters, Pearl Latiolais (Raymond) and Nancy Huval (Jamie); nieces and nephews, Tiffani Latiolais, Michael Trahan, Jr. (Katie), Linsey Sassau (Corey), Cody Guidroz, Shea Trahan, Joshua Trahan (Michael), Meagan Bonin (Ryan), Cody Huval (Juanita) and Luke Huval; numerous great nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, "Beau." He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Emma Savoy Trahan; nephew, Lon Latiolais; and one sister-in-law, Cheriee Trahan. Pallbearers will be Ronald Bergeron, Roy Guidry, Onni Thibodeaux, Cody Huval, Luke Huval, and Corey "C.J." Broussard, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Fernando Alemany and all of the staff at Opelousas General, Lafayette General, and The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice for the loving care given to Nelson in his time of need.
