New Iberia ;- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Nick Lanza, 81, who passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2008 in Lafayette. ;
Entombment will follow in the Memorial Park Mausoleum. ;
Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. Readers will be Susan Breaux and Stacy Melton. Gift Bearers include Jamie LeCamus and Taylor LeCemus. ;
Born on August 4, 1927 in New Iberia, Mr. Lanza attended St. Peter's College and was a graduate of New Iberia Senior High. After serving his country in the US Navy during World War II, he began his career in the oilfield by working for various companies. He founded NICO Supply Company, which he has owned and operated successfully since 1968. A member of the Ancient Order of the Creole Gourmet and a former president of the New Iberia Boat Club, Mr. Lanza's favorite pastimes included fishing, hunting, gardening, and most of all raising his pigeons. ;
Survivors include his wife, Janice Romero Lanza of New Iberia; children, Susan Lanza Breaux and husband David of New Iberia, Nicki Lanza LaBauve of New Iberia, William Luke "Billy" Lanza of Lafayette, James Craig Lanza of New Iberia, Robert Joseph Lanza of New Iberia; step son, Allen LeCamus and wife Monique of New Iberia; brother, Charles Lee Lanza and wife Donna of New Iberia; grandchildren, Angela Breaux Westblade and husband Lars, David Lee Breaux, II and wife Kylie, Christopher LaBauve, Matthew LaBauve, Phillip Lanza, Stacy Lanza Melton and husband Michael, Leslie Lanza Ruiz and husband Chris, Andrew Lanza; step grandchildren, Jamie LeCamus, Taylor LeCamus, Aaron Darby, Tristan Romero, Jarred Tauzin and wife Andrea; 6 great grandchildren, and 5 step great grandchildren. ;
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Lena Mondello Lanza; and his former wife Madeline Boutte Lanza. ;
Pallbearers include David Breaux, David Breaux, II, William Lanza, James Lanza, Allen LeCamus, and Charles Lanza. ;
Honorary pallbearers include Neil Louviere, Aaron Darby, Matthew LaBauve, Chris LaBauve, Andrew Lanza, Michael Melton, Bernard Derouen, and Jarrad Tauzin. ;
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM. ;
