Nina Jo Maraist

St. Martinville - A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, July 29, 2006, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in St. Martinville for Nina Jo Maraist, 59, who died Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia, LA. Miss Maraist was the owner of Small World Early Learning Center in St. Martinville for 21 years. ?She taught school in the St. Martin Parish Public Schools and at St. Martin Academy and served as the Athletic Director. ?She was also a florist and enjoyed crafts, cooking and children. ?She was very active in her community and various charitable organizations. Survivors include her sister, Therese Maraist Bertrand, and her husband, Larry J. Bertrand of St. Martinville; her nieces, Jasmine Bertrand-Vale and Sunny Rae Bertrand, both of Lafayette; her nephew, Ian-Thomas Bertrand of St. Martinville; her great niece, Rainy Dae Bertrand; her great nephew, Joseph Isidore Bertrand; her aunts, Virginia Politz Triche and Rosemary Politz, both of Baton Rouge; and her cousin, Charles W. Triche, III of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Anthony and Josephine Politz Maraist; and her brother, Thomas Anthony ""Packy"" Maraist, Jr. A gathering of remembrance will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2006 beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continue until time of service. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
