Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Nita Champagne Broussard, 83, who passed away on Monday, April 14, 2008 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Rev. Fr. Chanh Nguyen will officiate at the funeral Mass.
Mrs. Broussard was a homemaker and loved cooking and baking for family and children in the neighborhood. Nita was a very devout Catholic and started each day with her recitation of the rosary.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Clarence Broussard, of Breaux Bridge; one son, Ted A. Broussard and his wife, Christina, of Broussard; one daughter, Sheila B. Tauzin and her husband, Kenneth, of Cecilia; three grandchildren, Dwayne Tauzin, Danielle Tauzin, and Kim Broussard; and one great grandchild, John Michael Broussard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maxine and Leonide Huval Champagne; three brothers, Henry, Malcolm, and Lester Champagne; and four sisters, Mrs. Pierre (Lilly Marie) Douet, Mrs. Eric (Madeline) Bower, Mrs. Clarence (Bernadette) Touchet, and Mrs. Russell (Nursie Theresa) Goulas.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Tuesday and continue at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Goulas, Keith Thomassee, Jordy Wyble, Shawn Gautreaux, Dwayne Tauzin, and Kenneth Champagne.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Bower, John Michael Broussard, Eric Bower, and Joseph Huval, Jr.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Father Chanh, Dr. Dwayne Brown, Dr. Debra Durham, Sherry Thomassee, Celeste Wyble, Bernice Gautreaux, and all relatives and friends.
