Nolan Fremin

Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, on Monday, January 12, 2009, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau, for Nolan J. Fremin, 83, who passed away on Friday, January 9, 2009 in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum. Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant. Readers will be Leslie Boudreaux and Leo Fremin. Gift Bearers include Shealee Romero and Londyn Boudreaux. Scott Romero will give the euogly. Born on February 25, 1925 in Iberia Parish, Mr. Fremin worked as a sugarcane farmer, and then he worked 35 years for the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Department, under four different administrations. After retirement from the Sheriff's Department, he worked as a bailiff in the District Court for several years. Mr. Fremin organized the Sheriff's Hardball League in Coteau. He loved gardening, woodworking, boucheries, and his daily prayer meetings at the Chevron. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Georgia LeBlanc Fremin of Coteau; children, Charlotte Romero and husband Larry of Erath, Kenneth J. Fremin and wife Janis of New Iberia, Kyle J. Fremin and wife Julie of Coteau; brother, Leo Fremin and wife Flo of New Iberia; sisters, Mazie Myers and husband Curtis of Coteau, Leona Moore and husband J.C. of Lafayette, Rowena Comeaux of Coteau, Verna Morvant of Lafayette; sister-in-law, Eula LeBlanc of Vermilion Parish; brother-in-law, Frank LeBlanc of Coteau; 8 grandchildren, Sean Romero and fianc Bridget Brasseaux, Scott Romero and wife Parrish, Paul Cyr, Laurie Bonin and husband Jory, Katie Fremin and fianc Todd Boudreaux, Kyla Romero and husband Scot, Kelly Fremin and companion Kaine Champagne, Kassy Fremin and companion Colby Copell, Nicole Boudreaux and hasband Glen; 18 great grandchildren and one due to arrive in March; and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aladin and Electa Girouard Fremin; a brother, Curley A. Fremin; brother-in-laws, Wiley Morvant, Eraste Comeaux, and Clint LeBlanc, Jr. Pallbearers will be Sean Romero, Scott Romero, Paul Cyr, Troy Myers, Henry LeBlanc, and Leeward Fremin. Honorary Pallbearers include Ricky Carpenter, Kurt Myers, Byron Morvant, Courtney Fremin, Kevin Moore, Ross LeBlanc, Phyllis Mouton, and Missy Ruloph. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 1:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Sunday.
