Nolia Verret Mire

Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Nolia Verret Mire, 91, who passed away on Monday, December 22, 2008 at Iberia Extended Care Hospital, in New Iberia. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Father Louis Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of St. Bernard Church, will conduct the funeral service. Ms. Nolia was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker who always provided wonderful care for her children and grandchildren. She was a seamstress and a wonderful cook who loved canning, preserving foods, and preparing meals for her family, especially during the holidays. Survivors include two sons, Tommy Mire and his wife, Claudia, of Delcambre, and Mickey Mire, of Cypress Island; two daughters, Gayle M. Dowiatt and her husband, Lucien, of Sorrento, and Elizabeth "Libby" M. Dor, and her husband, Henry, of Cypress Island; one brother, Unell P. Verret and his wife, Nancy, of New Iberia; one sister, Una V. Judice, of Lafayette; 8 grandchildren, Tiffany Mire, Michelle Meek, Crystal Bernard, Teddy Mire, Darren Dor, Rhonda Dor, Derek Dor, and Jimmy Dowiatt; 11 great grandchildren, Jerry Meek, Jr., Madeline Meek, Jessie Meek, Justin Bernard, Jindi Bernard, Tori Mire, Tanner Mire, Darah Dor, Tatum Dor, Josh Dowiatt, and Jacey Dowiatt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Euclid and Julie Rogers Verret; former husband, Thomas A. Mire; infant twins; two brothers, Howard and Lionel Verret; and a grandson, Michael Mire. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge from 1:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Tuesday and continue at 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Darren Dor, Derek Dor, Jimmy Dowiatt, Josh Dowiatt, Teddy Mire, and Justin Bernard. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy and Mickey Mire and Lucien Dowiatt, and Henry Dor. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
