Nora Menard Broussard

New Iberia - Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM, Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia, for Nora Menard Broussard, 84, who passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in New Iberia. ; Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. ; Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate. ; Born on July 1, 1925, in Erath, Mrs. Broussard was a retired hairdresser, having owned and operated The Velvet Touch Beauty Salon for 25 years. She was also an instructor at the Iberia Beauty College for 4 years. Active in the community, Mrs. Broussard managed the St. Francis Diner Garage Sale for 4 years, which was their primary fund raiser. She also loved to work with her hands and was a member of the Home Demonstration Club of New Iberia. She loved fishing and camping and was a devoted caregiver for 14 years to the love of her life Ulysse, her husband of 63years. ; Survivors include her son, Glenn Broussard and wife Melinda of Breaux Bridge; granddaughters: Dawn Broussard of Los Angeles, California, Kristin Malorin and husband Paul of Cecilia; sisters, Amez Derouen of New Iberia, Hilda Viator and husband Ordley of New Iberia, and Hazel Dugas and husband Cleve of New Iberia. ; She was preceded in death by her husband Ulysse Pie Broussard; mother, Edmay Menard LeLeaux; father, Fernand Menard; stepfather, Clerfe Cap LeLeaux; grandparents, Marie and Edgar Romero; and a great grandson, Kole William Malorin. ; Pallbearers will be Rody Barrilleaux, Sid Barrilleaux, Mike Domingue, Paul Malorin, and Jimmy Romero. ; A special thanks for the exceptional care that was provided to Nora from Marie Williams and Tillie Duplechien and Angela Angelle for assisting them. We wish to also thank Hospice of Acadiana and the staff of Iberia Medical Center for their wonderful support and care. ; A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia.
