New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Norma Gary Bourque, 75, who died Saturday, July 18, 2009 at her daughter's residence surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rev. Blaine Clement will be the Celebrant.
Born on January 18, 1934 at Jefferson Island, Mrs. Bourque was a lifelong of New Iberia. She will be forever known as the backbone of her large and extended family, and as a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, visiting with her family and friends and playing pokeno.
Survivors include her sons, Jimmy Bourque, Sr. and wife Barbara, Randy James Bourque, Sr., and companion Billy Jo all of New Iberia; daughters, Goldie Wallis and husband Joseph, of New Iberia, Brenda Suire and husband Stanley of New Iberia, Debra Collins and companion Jimmy of Summit, MS., Sandra Borton and husband Mike of New Iberia; brothers, Wilfred Gary and Roy Gary both of New Iberia; sister, Elma Myers and husband Armand of New Iberia; longtime family friends, Mary Dupuy and Dot Boudreaux; 27 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victorian P. Bourque; parents Leonce and Eva Viator Gary; brothers, Semar and Amar Gary; sisters, Shirley Hebert, Loretta Viator, Eugenia Dore; son, David Wayne Bourque, Sr.
Pallbearers will be Brian Suire, Danny Babineaux, Jr., Joseph Wallis, Jr., Jimmy Bourque, Jr., Patrick Bourque, David Bourque, Jr., and Dustin Pauley.
Honorary pallbearers include Shane Suire, Shannon Suire, Todd Babineaux, and Randy Bourque, Jr.
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 2:30 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia, until 10:30 AM Tuesday. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Monday.
