Norman E. Land

October 18, 1946 — October 29, 2015

Norman E. Land passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, Louisiana. Norman Land began his entertainment industry professional career at the age of 16 years old. He began as a roadie for the nationally acclaimed Boogie Kings while he was still attending High school. After two years he worked his way up to becoming their road manager for five years. Following the success of his first management position he decided to strike out on his own and formed the Kingsland Talent Agency in 1964. He began booking local and regional groups and eventually worked his way into the national circuit. His first national act was none other than Percy Sledge at the grand opening of the Monroe Civic Center in 1965. Kingsland Talent Agency then metamorphosed into a full service entertainment agency, Kingsland Entertainment Agency. After 51 years he still continued to book and produce concerts, special events, weddings, parties, balls, fairs and festivals. He had the privilege to work with some of musics greatest artists such as; Ray Charles, Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban. He still continued to work and book national artists but, has never strayed far from his Louisiana roots by continuing to book local favorites and our unique regional flavor of Cajun, Country, Zydeco and Swamp Pop. Throughout the regions of Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and Arkansas...entertainers, disc jockeys, production companies would have all worked with Norman Land. He set so many standards that are still revered today by industry professionals. Norman has received several awards and accolades for his efforts. His most recent was one he was truly pleased with. The Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals inducted Norman into the LAFF Hall of Fame for his time and service dedicated to them. Another one of his passions when he was younger was being a member and eventually president of one of the Louisiana Chapters of the Jaycees. He is survived by his sons, Trevor Land and his wife Rhonda, Brandon Land and his wife Heather; and his grandchildren Dustin Land and his wife Brooke, Stella Land and Beverly Land. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Land and Daphne Debarge. Normans wishes were not to have a service. He always preferred to be behind the scenes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the following associations: American Diabetes Association (https://donations.diabetes.org) American Heart Association (https://donatenow.heart.org ) Multi System Atrophy (https://www.multiplesystematrophy.org/) Pellerin Funeral Home, Breaux Bridge, LA (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
