Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau for Olga Cecile Chastant Breaux, 97, who passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at her home.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until 1:45 PM.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant. Holy Scripture will be read by Beverly Vidrine. Gift bearers are her two great-granddaughters, Amelia and Meredith Breaux.
Interment will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Coteau.
Olga Cecile Chastant Breaux was born in Iberia Parish on March 20, 1920 to the late Henry Chastant and Ermance Rouly Chastant. She graduated from New Iberia High School, and was co-owner of Chastant and Breaux General Store. Mrs. Breaux was very social. She loved big band music and dancing, and was a former member of VFW Women's Auxiliary, New Iberia Boat Club, Delta Sigma Sorority, and Krewe of Andalusia. She will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Breaux is survived by a son, H. Lynn Breaux of Lafayette; three grandsons, Bert Breaux of Lafayette, Brandon Breaux and wife Michelle of Broussard, and Bryce Breaux of New Orleans; and three great grandchildren, Braxton, Amelia and Meredith Breaux.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard John Breaux.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Breaux, Bert Breaux, Bryce Breaux, Braxton Breaux, Woody Broussard, and Kenneth Vidrine.
Honorary pallbearer is Dr. Harold Chastant.
