Olita Romero

New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM , Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Olita Romero, 91, who died Saturday, June 23, 2012 in New Iberia . Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant of the funeral mass. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., New Iberia, LA 70560, 337.365.3331. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning at 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM . Born on March 9, 1921 in Youngsville , LA , Olita was the daughter of Demas and Carmelite Champagne Simon. Olita enjoyed playing bingo and pokeno. She also loved to cook for her family, always looking forward to the time she shared with her family. She is survived by her sons, Gerald Paul Romero, wife Julie, Whitney Romero, both of New Iberia; her brother, Harry Simon, wife Ruby of New Iberia; her sisters, Evelyn Romero of St. Martinville, Marie Simon of New Iberia; her grandchildren, Gladys Wiltz, Lynette Hebert, Annette Romero, Roy Romero, Tanya Penn, Wanda Hebert, David Romero, Millie Gary, Paul Romero, Michael Romero, Stephanie Johnson, Angela Mayeux, Electa McCloy, Balynda Romero, Misty Boggan, Amanda Ramos, Branndon Romero, Sean Romero; 21 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents Olita was preceded in death by her husband, Glades Romero and her brother, Jean Romero. Pallbearers will be Larry Romero, Paul Romero, Shawn McCloy, Derrick Romero, Edwin Mayeux, Jacob Wiltz. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Romero and Branndon Romero. The family would like give a special thank you to Heart of Hospice for the care and compassion that was given to Olita during her illness.
