Orres LeBlanc, born January 22, 1928, passed away peacefully at his home on October 11, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2514 Old Jeanerette Road, New Iberia.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., in the gathering area of the church until the time of the service.
A private family burial will take place at a later time.
Affectionately called 'Duke' by his grandchildren, Orres led the life of a true public servant.His entire professional career was spent in the Iberia Parish Clerk of Court's office, starting right out of college as a deputy clerk until he retired thirty-five years later as Clerk of Court, never having opposition for that elected position. People were very important to Orres and because of that he had countless friends. The numerous awards and honors from a variety of civic organizations and his generous acts of charity are evidence of his caring disposition.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Janice 'Duchess' Viator LeBlanc; his sister Joy Rita Gonzales and her husband, Jimmy; his four daughters, Arlene LeBlanc, Genie Woodring and her husband, Steve; Leah Hart and Bethanie LeBlanc; his six grandchildren, Marie-Elise Broussard and her fianc' Rick Vanderliest, Jr., William Broussard, Zac Woodring, Spencer Woodring, Max Hart and his wife, Jamie Lynn, and Hana Hart; and his great-grandson, Andre' Broussard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Esther LeBlanc, and his twin grandsons Henri Marc and Andre' Dauphis Broussard.
Special thanks go to the professionals of AAA Home Health and Hospice and the private caregivers Shawana Darby, Tonya Taylor and Chilon Barideaux. The giving spirits of those who knew him as shown through expressions of love and acts of kindness during Orres' illness are appreciated beyond words.
