VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, February 16, 2009, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Oscar Edger Goodie, Sr., 82, who passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Fr. Aaron Melancon will officiate at the funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Melissa Hall and Rian Batiste. Gift bearers will be Darius Gordon and Madison Johnson. Oscar Goodie, Sr. was born on January 13, 1927 to Jean Batiste Goodie and Adele Mae Gobar Goodie. He was a resident of Cecilia. He was a bee-keeper and later was employed by Duke Transportation for many years. Mr. Goodie enjoyed baseball and watching old westerns on t.v. His favorite pastime was sitting on his porch watching the traffic pass by. He leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters, Dorothy Goodie (John Wiltz), and Mary Joyce Batiste, all of Cecilia; four sons, Eugene Goodie (Shirley), of Cecilia, Rev. Gene Goodie (Gwen), of Kaplan, Oscar Goodie, Jr. (Sharon), and Lambert Goodie (Judy), all of Breaux Bridge; one brother, Boston Goodie and wife, Alzema, of Breaux Bridge. He also leaves to mourn, 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, of 46 years, Audrey Mae Davis Goodie; an infant son, Joseph Goodie; one daughter, Barbara Goodie; his parents, Jean Batiste and Adele Mae Gobar Goodie; one sister, Georgia Marie Goodie; and one brother, Roosevelt Davis. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Monday. Pallbearers will be Donavon Goodie, Marlin Goodie, Raphael Goodie, Chad Goodie, and Jason Goodie. Honorary pallbearers will be Boston Goodie, John Lamar Wiltz, Ronald Batiste, Eugene Goodie, Gene Goodie, Oscar Goodie, Jr., and Lambert Goodie. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
