New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Oscar G. Molbert, Sr., 72, who passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2009 in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in the Nativity Mausoleum.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant, and Rev. Mike Arnaud will Con-Celebrate. Dana Delatte and Lori Sperier will proclaim the readings. Gift Bearers include Michele Simpson, Sophie Simpson, and Camille Molbert. Musical selections will be performed by the choirs of Nativity of Our Lady and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Churches. Nicholas Molbert and Courtney Molbert will give the eulogy.
Born on June 29, 1936, Mr. Molbert is a retired Captain from the New Iberia Fire Department with 27 years of service, and is the former owner of Molbert Construction. An avid LSU fan, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, basketball, and spending time at his camp with his family and friends. Mr. Molbert is a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Virginia Dauterive Molbert of New Iberia; sons, Chris G. Molbert of New Iberia, Oscar G. Molbert, Jr. and wife Katherine of New Iberia, Nathan J. Molbert of Austin, Texas, Jamie N. Molbert of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Ross P. Molbert and wife Brandy of St. Martinville; daughter, Michele Molbert Simpson and husband John of New Iberia; sister, Celia Burke of Berwick; grandchildren, Nicholas Molbert, Courtney Molbert, Camille Molbert, Ross Molbert, and Sophie Simpson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Isabelle Blanchard Molbert.
Pallbearers will be Chris Molbert, Oscar Molbert, Jr., Nathan Molbert, Jamie Molbert, Ross Molbert, and John Simpson.
The family would like to give special Thanks to Dr. David Rinaldi and his staff, Hospice of Acadiana, Triple A Home Health, and Delaune Pharmacy for their extra ordinary care and compassion.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Catholic High School, or to Highland Baptist Christian School.
A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM.
