Loreauville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, April 6, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loreauville for Ossie J. Romero, Jr., 74, who passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018, in Lafayette.
Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery, with Military Honors by the Iberia Honor Guard.
Rev. Barry Crochet will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary, led by the Mens Rosary Group, will be prayed at 7:00 pm Thursday. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 am until 9:15 am.
A native and lifelong area resident, Mr. Romero was born on September 12, 1943 to the late Ossie Sr. and Amy Derouen Romero. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy and retired from Cleco after 26 years of service. Mr. Romero was an usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loreauville, and his hobbies included hunting, fishing, and taking care of his yard.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Armentor Romero of New Iberia; son, Brad Anthony Romero, Sr. and wife Nicole of New Iberia; grandchildren, Brad Romero, Jr., Micah Frederick, Jordan Hebert, Sage Hebert; sister, Janelle David of New Iberia; and brother, Dennis Romero and wife Delores of New Iberia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Romero.
