Otto Norris

New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Friday, February 1, 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia for Otto Norris, 94, who died Wednesday, January 30, 2013, in New Iberia. Interment will follow in St. Peters Cemetery. Rev. Charles Langlois will be the Celebrant, and Rev. Gary Schexnayder will Con-Celebrate. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Thursday. Visitation will continue Friday from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM. Born on August 24, 1918 in New Iberia, Mr. Norris was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a devoted Catholic and past president and member of St. Peters Catholic Church Ushers for over 46 years. Otto worked for LeBlanc & Broussard Ford, Gene Fortier Lincoln & Mercury. In 1963 he started his own mechanic shop and service station. He could make any motor run. Otto and Anna operated Norris Chevron for 30 years before retiring in 1993. He was an Iberia Parish School Bus Driver for 19 years, known as 'Bus 62' He loved being with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Otto was always willing to help everyone with their projects. Otto had a passion for gardening. He kept all of his family and friends filled with okra, tomatoes, pecans, and oranges. He is survived by his wife of 72 years Anna Dugas Norris of New Iberia; sons, Robert 'Bobby' Norris and wife Susan Aucoin Norris of New Iberia, Patrick 'Pat' Norris and wife Lisa Olivier Norris of New Iberia; daughters, Nancy Norris Bonin and husband Hayward 'Moose' Bonin, Jr. of New Iberia, Mary Norris Young and husband Kent Young of Sunset; sister, Lillian Norris of Orange, Texas; grandchildren, Robby Norris, Michael Norris, Anthony Norris, June Bourque, Jonathan Norris, Brad Norris, Brian Norris, Misty Romero, Renee Bonin, Ryan Bonin, Philip Young, and Stuart Young; 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oday Norris and Helena 'Eleanor' Viator Norris; brothers, Eddie Norris, Etienne Norris, Edia Norris, Otis Norris, and Antoine Norris. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Norris, Brad Norris, Brian Norris, Ryan Bonin, Robby Norris, Michael Norris, and Anthony Norris. The family would like to give special thanks to Heart of Hospice for the care and services provided. Thanks to Al Lassalle for Communion Services.
