Patrick Dale Hawthorne, 70, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Doctor's Hospital in Opelousas, after a brief illness.
Born on May 14, 1937, in Welch, West Virginia, Pat was a resident of Louisiana for 27 years with the last 15 years residing in Arnaudville. At the time of his death he was working with Russell's Painting. Pat was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved nothing better than to cook for his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by one son, Jimmy Hawthorne, of Birmingham, AL; two daughters, Mary Turner, of Arnaudville, and Patricia Westbrook, of Crowley; two brothers, Allen Hawthorne, of FL, and Jim Hawthorne, of NC; 7 grandchildren, Tabitha, Teri, and Michael Hawthorne, Alicia Hawthorne Albright, Billy and Elizabeth Turner, and Zachary Westbrook; and 6 great grandchildren, Bailey and BreAnna Albright, Mackenzie and Brooklyn Allen, Daniel Roberts, and Levi Dale Roberts, who will arrive in June, and several nephews and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Marie Gregory Hawthorne; parents, Ted and Elizabeth Hawthorne; a brother, Donald Hawthorne; and a grandchild, Christopher Leger.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Doctor's Hospital 2nd floor Med/Surgery Unit Staff for their care and support of Pat and his family. Special thanks and love to Steve Venable, a dear friend, who was a constant source of support and strength for us all, and finally a very special thank you to Russell LaGrange for his many years of support and friendship to Pat.
A memorial and celebration of Pat's life will take place at a later date.
