Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 8, 2005, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Paul ""Fred"" Champagne, 76, who died Monday, September 5, 2005 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Champagne served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. ?He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he worked as the Lock Master at the Keystone Locks in St. Martinville, in 1988 after 34 years of service. ?He was a member of the St. Martinville Lions Club.
Survivors include two sons, Rudy P. Champagne and his wife, Emmaline Richard Champagne and Ricky J. Champagne; his daughter, Christine Champagne Dupoy and her husband, Warren ""Jap"" Dupoy, all of Breaux Bridge; his brother, Dennis ""Macon"" Champagne of Breaux Bridge; his sister, Laura Mae Maddox of Texas; and four grandchildren, Francine Dupoy of Breaux Bridge, Raylene Choplin of Lafayette, Freddie Champagne and Mathieu Champagne, both of St. Martinville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frederick Champagne; his parents, Dennis ""Cachin"" and Laura Blanchard Champagne; and two brothers, Leroy and James ""Bon"" Champagne.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. ~ 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 and continue at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
