Breaux Bridge- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Paul Alvin Potier, Jr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 8:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Daphne Quarles and Jacoty Potier. Gift Bearers will be Olivia and Keyanni. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge Paul's life ended Thursday, September 27, 2012 when he was called home to heaven at the age of sixty-three. Paul Alvin Potier, Jr. was born on September 30, 1948 in Parks, Louisiana to the union of Alvin Potier and Mary Ebow Potier. Paul was reared in the Catholic Faith and was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church. Paul graduated from Carver High School in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. He participated in the school band and was a member of the football and baseball teams. Paul attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he was a member of the baseball team. He served in the United State Army in 1968 with a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. Paul married Carol LeBlanc on March 27, 1968. They became the parents of Donavon, Cotura and Paul Alvin III. He remained faithful to his wife until her death. Paul met and married Eva Craven Jordan on February 3, 1996. He became a father to Percy Jr. and Patience. Paul worked offshore for thirty-three and a half years, for the St. Martin Sheriff Department for five and a half years, and served as Councilman for the Village of Parks until his passing. Loved ones left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are: his loving wife, Eva; three sons, Donavon (Kellie) of Humble TX; Paul Alvin III (Shonna) of Lafayette; and Percy (Dawn) of Beaumont, TX; two daughters, Cotura (Toe) of Breaux Bridge; and Patience (Jerry) of Opelousas; grandchildren, Olivia, Keyannni, Torrie, Leo, Elijah, Jeremiah, Paul IV, Cord, Jerry IV, Payton and Landon; two sisters, Joyce Plummer and Alice Filer (Wilson) of Parks; one brother, Joseph Alfred Potier (Patricia) of Breaux Bridge; his aunt, Lucille Potier of Parks; god-mother, Anna Belle Lewis of Houston, TX; god daughters, Karen Potier of Parks and Alicia Celestine of Breaux Bridge; god sons, Jacoty Potier of Parks; and Dexter Williams of Breaux Bridge; and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Carol LeBlanc, parents, Alvin and Mary Potier and his brother, Peter Potier; in-laws, Ashton and Orenia G. Craven; brothers-in-law, Peter L. Craven, John Craven Sr. and Ashton V. Craven. Paul was a loving, happy, and carefree person who loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was always the high light of your day; greeting you with a great big smile. He enjoyed his life to the fullest always looking after his family members and friends. He loved to barbeque (cook) for family and friends. 'Oh how he loved his computer.' Pallbearers will be Donavan Potier, MacWayne Potier, Paul Alvin Potier, III, Percy J. Jordan, Jr., Jerry Guye, III, Reginald Cluse, Patrick Craven, and Nelson Craven. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph Alfred Potier, Corey Potier, Joseph A. Potier, Jr., T-Roy Hypolite, Martin Craven, Wilson Filer, Dexter Williams, Andrew LeBlanc, Corney Ledet, and Daniel Craven.
