New Iberia Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Paul Paw Paw Romero, 78 who died Sunday, April 27, 2014 in New Iberia.
A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia.
Deacon Wade Broussard will officiate.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero was born on January 15, 1936 and was the son of Adam and Gladys Touchet Romero. He was a graduate of New Iberia Senior High School, and was a self employed carpenter. His hobbies included woodworking and designing custom furniture, however his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sandy Guggenheimer Romero of New Iberia; children, David Romero and husband David of San Francisco, Paula Pellerin of New Iberia, Mickey Romero of New Iberia; grandchildren, Amy Messa of New Iberia, Trey Landry of New Iberia, Nicholas Pellerin and friend Lauren Dupius of Youngsville, Macey Broussard and husband John of New Iberia; great grandchildren, Conner Schick of New Iberia, Amber Lae Landry of Oklahoma; brothers and sisters, Jessie Mae Comeaux, Olga Sis Champagne and husband Les, Virgie McBride and husband Charlie, Gerald Romero and wife Deanna, Ricky Romero and wife Mona, Fran Morel, Barbara Derouen and husband JC all of New Iberia, and Susie Pratt and husband Lane of St. Martinville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Christy Romero; a grandson, Brett Sinitiere; and a sister, Judy Langlinais.
The family would like to give special thanks to Paramount Hospice, and to all of the caregivers for their extraordinary care and compassion given to Mr. Romero.
