Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Paul Chester Valere, 81, who passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 8:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Peter Emusa will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Music will be provided by Francis LeBlanc. Reading the scriptures will be Annie Hirstius and Christina Watts. Gift bearers will be Jayla Williams and Anfernee Adair. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge . Mr. Valere was employed as a construction worker for 15 years and also worked on the Railroads for 10 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding, training and shoeing horses. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Williams Valere; his sons, Paul (Barbara) Williams, Melvin (Beth) Williams, Herbert (Sarah) Williams; his daughter, Shirley (Louis) Rowan; his brother, Melvin (Lois) Lewis; his sisters, Lou Velma Abraham and Sadonya Senegal ; his 8 grandchildren; and his 13 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mabel Jean Batiste Valere; his sister, Marie Nelson; and his brothers in law, Milton Abraham and Donald Senegal. Pallbearers will be McKinley Demouchet, Jr., Byron Williams, Alvin Lewis, Albert Menard, Alton Williams and Rickey Gary. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Morris, Paul Williams, Melvin Williams, Herbert Williams, Louis Rowan, John 'Tiger' Williams, Brandon Watts, Donald Ledet, McKinley Demouchet, Sr. and Boyd Victor.
