Catahoula - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at St. Rita Catholic Church in Catahoula, for Percy Joseph Bourque, 88, who passed away on Monday, February 18, 2008 at his residence.
Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula.
Rev. Fr. Donald Pelous, pastor of St. Rita Catholic Church, will officiate at the funeral Mass. Altar Servers will be Jonathan Lavergne and Morgan Laviolette. Readers will be Andy Laviolette, Felicia Kerne, and Lea Henry.
Mr. Bourque was a veteran of World War II, having honorably served his country in the United States Army. He started working with McMann-Musson as a mechanic then at Evangeline Auto Company as a shop foreman, later going to work as a car salesman for Arceneaux Ford. He served as an usher and lay minister in his church parish, of St. Rita. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and was the manager of the Catahoula Dirt Movers. Percy enjoyed playing cards, horse racing, and was an avid sports fan of the L.S.U. Tigers and the Atlanta Braves. He will be sadly missed by his lovely wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the acquaintances he befriended throughout his life.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Lou Latiolais Bourque, of Catahoula; his son, Johnny Bourque and his wife, Maxine, of Loreauville; his daughter, Patsy Blanchard and her husband, Marshall, of Catahoula; ten grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emile and Lucretia Blanchard Bourque; his brothers, Eymar, August, Isaac, Emile, Jr., Dozita, and Antoine Bourque; and his sisters, Exyile Vicknair, Pauline Theriot, Eva Latiolais, and Isabella Dauphinet.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Dion Hall from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday and continue at 7:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Colby Bourque, Bart Blanchard, Jake Bourque, Jonathan Bourque, Joseph Bourque, and Jordan Laviolette.
