Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Percy Williams, Sr., 85, who passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home in Arnaudville.
Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia.
Fr. James Patrick Fallon will officiate at the Funeral Mass. The reader will be Joy Neveu Cormier.
Mr. Williams was retired from farming; upon his retirement he worked as a custodian for the St. Martin Parish School Board for 11 years. He had many joys in life, such as gardening, riding around in his truck, watching BET on television, and chewing gum. Mr. Williams was very fluent in and loved speaking the French language. He maintained the moral values that he set for himself as well as his family, Respect other people and In order to make a living, you must go to work.
Survivors include three sons, Percy Williams, Jr., and Melvin Williams, of Breaux Bridge, and Michael Williams, of Cecilia; four daughters, Mary Agnes W. Neveu, of St. Martinville, Vergie Williams, of Breaux Bridge, Georgie Roberts and her husband, Alphonse, Jr., of Henderson, and Rebecca Broussard and her husband, Eddie, Sr., of Cecilia; two step sisters, Margie Williams, of Lafayette, and Lucille Williams Batiste, of Houston, TX; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Davis Williams; two sons, Eugene and Joseph Clay Williams; three daughters, Mary Jane W. Smith, Mary Ann W. Celestine, and Ella Mae Williams; his parents, Clay and Anna J. Williams; and one grandson, Anthony Perez Celestine.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Thursday.
A rosary will be recited at 8 a.m. Thursday morning.
Pallbearers will be his three sons, Percy, Jr., Melvin, and Michael Williams, Reggie Clues, Thaddeus Smith, and Edward Broussard, Sr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Alphonse Roberts, Jr., Travis John Neveu, Bryan Roberts, and Kody Williams.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
