A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church at 10 A.M. on Friday, August 27th, 2010, for Peter Alexander Landry, a prominent New Iberia attorney and civic and church leader, who died on August 24th, 2010, after a year long bout with cancer. Father Charles Langlois, Pastor of St. Peter's Catholic Church, will be the celebrant.
Burial at Holy Family Cemetery will follow the service.
Peter was born on October 8th, 1958, to Adrianne Mouton Landry and Alfred Smith Landry, Sr.
He was married to Carole Delcambre on August 22, 1987, and they were the parents of four children, Charles Anthony Landry, John Alexander Landry, Mark Andrew Landry and Lillian Marie Landry.
Peter graduated from Catholic High School, Louisiana State University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, and from The Tulane University of Louisiana in 1986, with a Juris Doctor Degree. While at Tulane, he served as President of the law school student body.
In his professional career he was a law clerk for the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal, and at the time of his death he was a partner in the local law firm of Landry, Watkins, Repaske and Breaux.
He was an Eagle Scout, a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, which he served as a member of the Board of Legal Specialization; he was a volunteer for the United Way and the Boy Scouts of America and served on many boards, including the Evangeline Area Boy Scouts Council, The Iberia Parish Library, as a Trustee of St. Peter's Catholic Church and a member of the Parish Council of that Church, and he was a Past President of The New Iberia Rotary Club. He was a frequent speaker to civic groups, legal associations and investment companies on Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning and Administration, in which he was certified by the Louisiana State Bar Association Board of Specialization, and he practiced before the Internal Revenue Service in tax related matters.
He is survived, in addition to his widow, children and parents, by ten siblings, Adrianne Landry Baumgartner; Amelie Landry Bower; Alfred Smith Landry, Jr.; Edward Paul Landry, Sr.; Dianne Landry Kirsch; Charles Benjamin Landry; Thomas Barry Landry; Helen Landry Seward; Alice Landry Basden and Louise Landry Hill.
His pallbearers will be his four brothers, Alfred Landry, Jr., Edward Landry, Benjamin Landry and Thomas Landry and Philip deMahy, Sr. and Richard Hebert.
Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers-in-law, Tim Basden, Robert Baumgartner, Michael Bower, Robert Cole, James P. Hill, Jr., Irving Kirsch, Herbert LeBlanc, Jr., the Reverend Daren McGrew, Kenneth Seward, and George J. Trappey, III.

A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 4:30 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 26th, with a rosary at 7:00 P.M., at Pellerin Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Friday from 8:00 A.M. until 9:30 AM.
