Peter Jerome Potier

Parks - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at St. Louis Chapel in Parks, for Peter Jerome Potier, 49, who passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, in Lafayette. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Father Stephen Ugwv will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Peter, along with his father, founded their cement company, which was his passion; previously working for Martin Mills for more than 17 years. He was a parishioner of St. Louis Chapel in Parks, where he was a member of the St. Paul Society and the Knights of Peter Claver. Peter played baseball with the "Stone Junkies" in Parks for many years. It brought him great enjoyment to barbecue for his family and friends for any occasion. Peter was married to the love of his life, Cindy, for 28 years, and he cherished spending time with her and their three beautiful children, his precious granddaughter. Survivors include his wife, Cindy R. Potier, of Parks; two sons, Corey and Jacoty Potier, of Parks; one daughter, BrieAnna Potier, of Parks; two brothers, Paul Potier, of Parks, and Alfred Potier, of Breaux Bridge; two sisters, Joyce Plummer and Alice Filer, both of Parks; one grandchild, Kamryn Gabrielle Potier, of Cypress Island; two godchildren, Ashley Potier and Ricky Pierre, Jr.; his mother-in-law, Shirley Papillion Richard, of Breaux Bridge; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Mary Ebow Potier; maternal grandparents, Alcee and Marie Louise Solari Ebow; paternal grandparents, Leanord and Louise LeBlanc Potier; and a godson, Dwayne Filer. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continue at 7 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be McWayne Potier, Donovan Potier, Albert Potier, Jonathan Smith, Cornelius Hypolite, Lennis Phillips, Jr., Kenneth Potier, and Paul Phillips. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
