St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2008, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Philbert Joseph "Ba Ba" Robertson, Sr., 77, who died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at his residence in St. Martinville.
Interment will follow at Queen of Peace in St. Martinville.
Rev. Tarsisius Puling, SVD will conduct the services. The readers will be Shemeika Marie Fontenette, Nessia Mitchelle and Mariah Robertson.
Mr. Robertson loved to dance, smile and was known as the Zydeco King. He worked in Garden City for 17 years and a farm hand for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Gertie Mae W. Robertson of St. Martinville; his sons, Curtis James Robertson and his wife, Joycelyn of St. Martinville, Joseph Paul Robertson and his wife, Penny of St. Martinville; his daughters, Rena Washington and her husband, Calvin of St. Martinville, Debra R. Mitchell and her husband, Duplantis of Broussard, Mary Della Robertson and her husband, Wesley of Cade and Jacqueline T. Robertson and her husband, Bernard of St. Martinville; his brother, Milton Robertson of St. Martinville; his sisters, Agnes Stewart, Anita Auguillard and Mary Ann Robertson all of St. Martinville; 25 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Philbert and Una Davis Robertson; his sons, Chris Robertson, Sr., Philbert Robertson, III and Kenneth Maurice Robertson; his daughter in law, Rita Mae Robertson; his brothers, Alton, Clay and Adam Robertson; his sisters Verna Allen, Eva Robertson and Lena Clements.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008.
A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Curtis J. Robertson, Joseph P. Robertson, Jamaal Fontenette, Casey Maurice, Ron George, Henry Mitchelle, James Joseph and Gerald Wiltz.
Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick Marks, Jr., Calvin J. Washington, and Hubie J. Johnson, III.
Amanda Y. Washington will be the program designer.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
