Philippe André Landry

June 11, 1980 — September 20, 2020

St. Martinville - A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville in St. Martinville for Philippe André Landry, 40, who passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020, at his home in New Orleans. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday. A rosary will be prayed at 11:30 am on Saturday. Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Memorial Service. Born in St. Martinville on June 11, 1980, Philippe attended Trinity Catholic Elementary School and St. Martinville High School. He was a 2009 graduate of University of Louisiana Lafayette and had earned credits toward his masters degree in History. His childhood was spent with countless hours swimming and enjoying summers on beach vacations with his parents and brother. He was loved by his older cousins and his younger cousins looked up to him, knowing that any time spent with Phil was going to be memorable. Long weekends in New Orleans cemented his love for the city and led him there as an adult to pursue his artistic talents, primarily performance arts. He was particularly proud of his mastery of the harmonium. While pursuing his musical career in the Lafayette area he participated with a local interpretive dance company composing an original musical score. The company was later invited to present “I’ve Stopped Having That Dream I’ve Been Having” at the St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival. He loved cooking and creating in the kitchen, particularly foods of ethnic origin, tossing out cookbooks and instructions and using his instinct. A renaissance man, his circle of friends was wide. An avid reader and collector of books, strong in his Catholic faith, he was proud of his French and German roots. He was preceded in death by his mother, Juliette Bienvenu Landry. Philippe is survived by his father, Pierre Rex “Rocky” Landry, and his brother Pierre Landry, III, his former spouse, Mary Ann Landry, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to the organization of your choice. He will be deeply missed by all that were blessed to be a part of his life. “That is the legacy that you leave on this earth, when you leave this world: how many hearts you touched and impacted.” Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
