Phyllis J. Romero

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Friday, January 21, 2022, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Phyllis Jean Romero, 69, who passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:30 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday and continue on Friday at 7:00 am until 1:00 pm.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Thursday.

Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Blair Romero and Cheryl Landry. Gift Bearers will be her granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Alexis Romero.

Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.

Phyllis was a devoted member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Ladies Altar Society, and the Cursillo Movement. She was a faithful and dedicated adorer at St. Bernard’s Chapel of Perpetual Adoration for many years and spent countless hours offering prayers and devotions to those in need. Phyllis was employed in law enforcement for many years and worked in the administration departments with Louisiana State Police Troop I and St. Martin Parish Sheriff Department. Phyllis was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to everyone. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Jason Romero of Buda, TX; granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Alexis Romero; brothers, Bobby Romero (Kathy) and Eddie Romero (Cille); and her sisters, Judy Legendre (Tommy) and Marylyn Chapron (Chris).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Ann Vanola Doré Romero; maternal grandparents, Elisha and Theodore Doré; and paternal grandparents, Amilia and Paul Romero.

Pallbearers will be Scott Legendre, Eric Legendre, Earl Landry, Nick Romero, Nick Carpenter, Bart Hebert, and Paul Dubois.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cursillo Center, 3651 Hwy. 104, Opelousas, LA 70570-1808.
