Quang Van Nguyen, 69, of New Iberia, was surrounded by loved ones as he passed from this earthly world to his final resting place with God on Monday, July 2, 2018.
At age 27, Quang made a brave journey from Vietnam to the United States, leading his wife and family in search of a better future. Quang persevered and epitomized the American Dream. Working as a fisherman, he raised 9 children and instilled in them the values of hard work and of family. He enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune with his wife and a Budweiser, and just relaxing and enjoying life. Quang had an uncanny sense of humor which will be greatly missed.
Mr. Nguyen is survived by his loving wife, Lung Tran Nguyen; son, Hai Nguyen and wife Thao Vu of Gulfport, MS; daughters, Xuan Pham and husband Hung of New Iberia, LA, Kim Nguyen and husband Doan of Lafayette, LA, Loan Ramsey and husband Michael of Southlake, TX, Lan Nguyen and husband Son of New Iberia, LA, Huong Nguyen and husband Viet Trinh of Coppell, TX, Lien Rogers and husband Marty of Covington, LA, Hong Nguyen and husband Canh of Ocean Springs, MS, and Emmy Nga Nguyen and husband Lam Tran of Houston, TX; brothers, Binh Nguyen and wife Chi of New Iberia, LA, and An Nguyen and wife Cuc of New Iberia, LA; grandchildren, Christopher Nguyen, Katherine Nguyen, Elizabeth Nguyen, Giac Pham, Anna Pham, Leah Nguyen, Nena Nguyen, Abby Nguyen, Regan Ramsey, Ryan Ramsey, Riley Ramsey, Vi Nguyen, Van Nguyen, Dao Nguyen, Khoi Nguyen, Tai Nguyen, Luca Rogers, Lana Rogers, Lily Rogers, Collin Dat, Adam Liem, and Chloe Nguyen; and many nieces and nephews.
Quang was preceded in death by his mother, Nu Thi Nguyen, and his father, Hoi Van Nguyen.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Quangs life will be held at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church at 10:30 am Saturday, July 7, 2018.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:30pm. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30pm Friday, followed by a Mass at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Visitation will continue at Pellerin Funeral Home on Saturday from 8:30am until 9:15 am.
Rev. Joseph Sai will be the Celebrant.
Entombment will follow at Nativity of Our Lady Cemetery in New Iberia.
Pallbearers are Giac Pham, Vu Tran, Thuan Tran, Long Nguyen, Dung Nguyen, Mui Nguyen, Thai Nguyen, and Phong Tran.
