Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 12 :00 p.m., on Monday, July 12, 2010, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Quenola Reese Hanks, 75, who passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge . Rev. James Fallon, Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Church will conduct the services. Readers will be Herbert Wiltz and her son, George Hanks, Jr. Mrs. Hanks will be remembered for her passion and dedication to the field of education. She was respected, admired and loved by every student that was privileged to have had her as a teacher. She earned her Bachelors Degree from Southern University and while attending college, she met the love of her life, her husband, George. She leaves a legacy of fine education to the schools in St. Martin and Calcasieu Parish for 32 years. Quenola enjoyed working in her yard, creating beauty to the flowers that she nurtured all year round. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking, sewing, and loved her animals. She always put her family first by visiting and providing to those in need. She will be sadly missed by her colleagues, students, friends, and her family that she embraced with the true meaning of love. Survivors include her husband, George C. Hanks, Sr. of Lake Charles ; her sons, George Hanks, Jr. (Stacey) of Houston , TX and Kendrick J. Hanks (Lillie) of Dallas , TX ; her sister, Thelma Brown of Houston , TX ; her grandchildren Alyse and Kendrick Hanks, Jr. of Dallas, TX; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose and Fabiola Williams Reese; and her brother, Wilbert Reese. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 12, 2010 . A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. Pallbearers will be Jerry Brown, Jr., Melvin Davis, Kendrick Hanks, Carl Lawrence, Allen Paul and Raymond Vavasseur, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Floyd Hanks, George Hanks, Jr., Kenneth Hanks, Lloyd Hanks, Timothy Lewis and Herbert J. Wiltz. Pellerin Funeral Home, 211 Berard St. , Breaux Bridge , LA 70517 , is in charge of arrangements.
