New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church, in New Iberia, for Rachel Ransonet Romero, 52, who passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023, after a fearless three-year battle with cancer.
Entombment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant. The readings will be proclaimed by Rebecca Romero Landry and Ian Ransonet. Adam Ransonet will be the Altar Server.
Visitation will be Wednesday, from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, at Pellerin Funeral Home, and will continue Thursday, from 8:00 am until 9:15 am. A rosary, led by Seth Ransonet, will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday.
Rachel was a cherished wife and a faithful Catholic.
She was a devoted daughter, a loving sister, a protective aunt, a supportive sister-in-law, a fun-loving stepmother and a loyal friend. She was the life of the party who delighted everyone in her presence with her witty sense of humor.
Rachel was a tenacious business owner of Patout Greenwood Insurance agency in New Iberia and loved traveling, golf, shopping, hanging out with friends and family and beating her mom at bourre.
Rachel is survived by her husband, Luis Romero; mother, Louella Dressel Ransonet; step children, Bart Romero (Kelly), and Rebecca Romero Landry (Curry); siblings, Randy Ransonet (Jennifer), Annie Murray (Chad), Tommy Ransonet, Jon Ransonet (Joan), and Lynn J. Ransonet; step grandchildren, Jack Romero, Audrey Romero, Harper Landry, and Oliver Landry; nieces and nephews, Stevi Ransonet (Charlie), Chloe’ Boggs (Adam), Mary Claire Domingue, Ian Ransonet, Seth Ransonet, Evan Ransonet, Jake Murray, Aidan Murray, and Adam Ransonet.
She is preceded in death by her aunt, Elaine D. Villermin, her father, Lynward Ransonet, maternal grandparents Louda L. Dressel and Emile Dressel Jr., and paternal grandparents May G. Ransonet and Stanley Ransonet.
Pallbearers will be Randy Ransonet, Bart Romero, Lynn J. Ransonet, Jake Murray, Evan Ransonet, Aidan Murray, and Seth Ransonet.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calcutta House, 105 St. Christopher Street, Lafayette, LA 70506, or to St. Francis Diner, P.O. Box 9106, New Iberia, LA 70562.
