St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Raney "RJ" Jacob, Jr., 56, who passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at his residence.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in St. Martinville on Saturday from 7:00 am until 10:30 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am on Saturday morning.
Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Raney Jacob, Jr. bravely faced a devastating diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and fought valiantly against it. Throughout his battle, Raney demonstrated immense strength and determination. He has made a lasting impact on many lives.
Raney worked in the oilfield for over 30 years. He was the definition of "life of the party"! He will always be remembered for his fun, humor, quick comments, dancing skills, the many languages he taught himself, his music, his special juice and cooking.
There was not a day that passed when Raney didn't reach out to his family to make sure everyone was okay or to crack a joke to uplift their spirits. Every day was a party. Raney enjoyed his family dearly and spent most of his time with his grandkids.To know him was to love him!
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Priscilla Gordon Jacob; mother, Hilda Batiste; sons, RJ Dugas (Morgan), Randy Dugas (Denetra) and Courtney Porter; daughters, Lashea Dugas (Jelani) and Leeosha Dugas (Joshua); grandchildren, Daja Dugas, Dorrian Dugas, Randy Dugas, Thomas Steele, Bentley Dugas, Laken Dugas, Si'yanna Dugas, Tristian Dugas, Javoni Chevalier, Sagan Dugas, Jamier Hardy, Rylun Dugas and Dru Dugas; brothers, Jarvis Batiste, Carl Jacob and Corey Jacob (Trina); sisters, Rachel Leon (Patrick) and Sharelle Roberts; and godchildren, Twanza Robertson, Keithan Williams, Tenisha Mitchell, Tayton Jacob, Sharelle Roberts and Saria Lambert.
He is preceded in death by his father, Raney Jacob, Sr.; brothers, Courtney Jacob and Marvis Jacob; and his sister-in-law, Mandy Romanda Jacob.
Pallbearers will be Terry Williams, Lonnie Jacob, Shantley Batiste, Joshua Batiste, Ronald Solloman, and Travis Davis.
Honorary Pallbearers will RJ Dugas, Randy Dugas, Jarvis Batiste, Corey Jacob, Carl Jacob, Junius "Red" Semien, Ravis Williams, Traylen Williams, Mathaniel Batiste, Patrick Leon, Rondale Solloman, Joshua Williams, and Jelani Benoit.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, especially Casey Dugas, for the care and compassion they provided.
