Cecilia - A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Ray Calais, 88, who died on Monday, December 15, 2014.
Rev. Michael Delcambre will officiate at the Memorial Mass. Scriptures will be read by his granddaughters, Casey Lauren Calais and Katie Ray Calais. Gift Bearers will be his nieces and nephews. Music will be provided by his nieces and nephews. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
Mr. Calais was a veteran of World War II, honorably serving his country in the United States Navy. Ray worked for Southern Petroleum Laboratories for 41 years and retired as an Executive Vice President. He was very active in his community and was once a volunteer Fire Fighter with the Cecilia Fire Department for many years. Ray was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, where he served as a Lay Minister, Lector, and President of the Parish Council. He was an avid reader and gardener and was once a member of the American Rose Society. Ray had a passionate interest in natural and herbal supplements. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Paola Guidry Calais of Cecilia; two sons, Timothy Ray Calais and his wife, Lynne D. Calais, of Gambrills, MD, and Paul Skipton Calais and his wife, Martha C. Calais, of Youngsville; his sister, Ethel Lee Calais Taylor of Covington; and two grandchildren, Katie Ray Calais and Casey Lauren Calais.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Whitney and Elmire Lormand Calais; his brother, Joseph Roy Calais; two sisters, Anna Grace C. Zerangue and Ann Opal C. Guidry; and his daughter-in-law, Carla W. Calais.
Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Ray Calais, Paul Skipton Calais, Shane Guidry, Mickey Guidry, Michael Guidry, Kent Zerangue, Wendel Zerangue, and Teddy Taylor.
