Ray Robinson

Lafayette - A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Holy Cross Catholic Church for Ray Robinson, 73, who passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center.

A visitation will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Thursday from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

A rosary will be prayed at 1:40 pm on Thursday.

Father Mario Romero will officiate the memorial service.

Ray was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette. He recently attended the ACTS retreat and cherished his time there. Ray often volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He loved cooking, fishing, and working in the garage. Ray enjoyed boiling crawfish every year for their annual crawfish boil, where he served hundreds of pounds of crawfish. Above all, Ray was a family man and anyone he met was instantly family to him, he was there for everyone in their time of need. He was beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by wife of 39 years, Donna Tims Robinson; daughters, Wendy McGibboney (Colin) and Karen Sollberger (Casey); son, James Robinson; sisters, Kathy Buckelew and  Christina Robinson; and his grandchildren, Audrey Cooper, Madison McGibboney, Shannon McGibboney, Alexander Sollberger, II and Elijah Sollberger.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon Robinson and Mary Louise Wiles Robinson.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center - the doctors, nurses and aids that took wonderful care of him during his time of need.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
