Catahoula - Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, April 12, 2010, at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula, for Ray Doc Willis, 77, who passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Doc was retired after working for Union Underwear in Campbellsville, KY for 38 years, then for Martin Mills in St. Martinville for 26 years. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking, watching NASCAR, the Kentucky Derby horse races, and golf on TV, and he loved spending time with his family and friends. Doc will be loved and missed by many.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia L. Willis of Breaux Bridge; two sons, Anthony Willis of Lexington, KY, and David Higginbotham and his wife, Jeanne Marie, of Lake Charles; four daughters, Jeanine McCloskey and her husband, Shannon, of Lexington, KY, Edmae Doucet of St. Martinville, Nora Gilbert and her husband, Robert, of Anderson, SC, and Amy Caison and her husband, Shelton, of St. Martinville; one sister, Shirley Noel, of Elk Horn, KY; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Bertha Campbell Willis; and his brother, James Luther Willis.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and continue at 9 a.m. until time of service on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Shelton Caison, Harold Thibodeaux, John Castille, Jr., Toby Doucet, David Higginbotham, and Ramsey Albert.
Honorary pallbearer will be Caleb Stephenson.
