Raymond Paul Courville, Sr.

Catahoula- Raymond Paul Courville Sr, 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 15, 2023, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice, surrounded by his loved ones.

A visitation will take place at Dion Hall in Catahoula on Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Saturday. 

Raymond was born on February 19, 1946, in Catahoula. From a young age, Raymond loved working with his hands and building anything he could imagine. He spent most of his life pursuing these passions and had an accomplished career in construction.

In addition to his professional life, Raymond had diverse interests that kept him busy outside of work too. He enjoyed hunting and spent many days out in the woods tracking game. One of Raymond's favorite pastimes was raising animals. He had quite the menagerie back home consisting of guineas, chickens, dogs, and horses. As an experienced equestrian, he also raced and trained horses which brought him much joy.

Raymond was known for being a kind-hearted person who welcomed everyone with open arms. He loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends. Raymond will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his companion of 28 years, Peggy Holmes; son, Raymond "Buddy" Courville, Jr. (Darlene); daughter, Shannon Wilkinson (Lance); brothers, Dennis Courville (Cypriana), James Courville, Sr. (Cindy), and Brannon Courville (Lou); sisters, Deanna Broussard (Carroll) and Brenda Thibodeaux; 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Yola Theriot Courville; daughter, Paula Courville; sisters, Eunice Barras, Una Borel, and Eula Mae Champagne; and his brothers, Daniel Courville, John Courville, and David Courville.
