New Iberia - Raymond Paul Gaspard, born on February11, 1957, in Lafayette, LA bid farewell to this world on January 18, 2024, in New Iberia, LA.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Broussard Cemetery.
Raymond was a man who embodied the spirit of service. He proudly served his country as a US Army veteran during the Vietnam era. His commitment to duty and his unwavering dedication to defending his nation were truly admirable qualities that defined him as a person.
Beyond his military service, Raymond had a multitude of interests that brought him joy throughout his life. He had an affinity for fighting roosters and enthusiastically engaged in the thrilling world of cock fights.
Mechanical work held a special place in Raymond's heart. He possessed an innate talent for tinkering with things and fixing them. Also, race cars and his beloved Corvette occupied a significant part of Raymond's life. The roar of engines and the adrenaline rush of speed were invigorating to him. He also enjoyed dancing and playing cards with family and friends.
Raymond is survived by nine siblings, Lydia Wycoff (Bill), Genevieve Baudoin, Dolores Stoltz (Duke), Dallas Hebert (Adrie’Ann), Liz Delcambre (Jody); Brian Hebert, David Hebert, Katherine Viator, and Odette Hebert; and two special children that he thought of as his own, Rachel Toups and Tommy Joe Derouen.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Gaspard Hebert; father, Clarence Solar; siblings, Jennifer Bonin, Eve Aucoin, Lorraine Noel, Herman Hebert and George Hebert III; and a sister-in-law, Pam Hebert.
Raymond will be fondly remembered for his vibrant spirit and zest for life. May he rest in peace.
