He attended Delta Business College and earned a degree. He was then employed by Exxon USA as a Maintenance Specialist in Grand Isle, LA. During his career, he took an assignment in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as an expat where he and his family lived for six years. Ray was baptized at an early age and became a member of Teche United Church of Christ in Morbihan. As a youth, he was the lead singer of the musical group, “Echoes for Christ” with friends and family members and was well known for his beautiful singing voice.
Ray was a very generous man, and was a mentor and role model for countless young people. He loved fishing at the camp, grilling, Westerns, and was an avid sports fan (especially of the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Lakers). He also enjoyed working on things, and was a “Jack of all trades, master of none,” and was very good at supervising!

Jefferson (Ty Bacchus) and Kayla Jefferson-Ledet (Donald Ledet, Jr.); three grandchildren, Jaeden Jefferson, and Kynnedi and Khloe Ledet; brothers, Kevin Jefferson (Karen), Terrell Jefferson, Michael Jefferson (Katherine), Edward Fontenette (Katherine), Donald Ray Daniel (Yolanda), and Craig Daniel (Tommie); sisters, Elizabeth Jefferson and Doris Daniel; aunts, Lydia Fontenette and Thelma Chevalier; six godchildren, a plethora of nieces, nephews and friends; his beloved German Shepherd, Lily; and three grand-dogs. His departure leaves a beautiful legacy to cherish his memory.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Mattie and Walter Johnson; paternal grandparents, Adrian and Lucille Daniel; sister, Michelle Blaise; brother, Allen Daniel; step-mother, Helen Daniel; aunts, Mattie Lee Lavine, Brenda Johnson, and JoAnn Allen; uncles, Rev. Charles Johnson, Sr., Russell “Slim” Fontenette, Sr., Edward “E.J.” Jefferson, and Alton Lavine.
