Breaux Bridge, Louisiana - A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, April 14, 2025, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge for Raymond Schexnider 83, who passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Monday from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
A Rosary will be prayed at 9:00 AM on Monday.
Rev. David Rozas will officiate at the funeral service.
Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.
Raymond proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, exemplifying dedication, and commitment. After his military service, he became a skilled dredge boat operator before taking the plunge into entrepreneurship, owning and operating a grocery store that became a staple in his community. His work ethic and integrity earned him the respect and admiration of many.
In addition to his business pursuits, Raymond had a passion for the equestrian world. He enjoyed training and breeding racehorses, a hobby that brought him joy and connected him with many friends and fellow enthusiasts. He was also known for his culinary skills, delighting family and friends with his cooking. When it came to leisure, Raymond loved playing Bourré, where he often gathered with loved ones for laughter and friendly competition.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Schexnider; children, Brett (Mary) Schexnider, Clark Schexnider, Richard (Chris) Schexnider, Grant (Laura) Schexnider, Neal (Michelle) Schexnider, Mark (Jennifer) Neal, Sharee Brewer and Kendell (Jason) Churchwell; brothers, William (Melinda) Schexnaider and Sam (Sandra) Schexnayder; sisters, Lydia Schexnider, Barbara Schexnider and Linda Frelich; 8 grandchildren, Steven, Lindsey, Daniel, Margaux, Tamara, Lola, Summer and Preston; and one great grandchild, Rose.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fernest and Eugenia Leonard Schexnider; brothers, Ernest Schexnider and Ray Schexnider; and grandson, Jason Neal.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Schexnider, Jason Churchwell, Toby Legrand, Yancy Blanchard, Ricky Schexnider, Zack Latiolais, Darrel Arabie, and Steven Willingham.
Honorary pallbearers will be Alfred Guidry, Allen Theriot, Lloyd Tauzin, Grant Richard, Aaron Savoy, Kirk Landry, Wayne Landry, and Malcolm Landry.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Mr. Schexnider, who was a disabled Military Veteran, ask that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org
