St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. , on Saturday, Februay 11, 2012, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, in St. Martinville for Regina Ledet Barras, 86, who passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Fr. Augustinus Seran, SVD, will officiate at the funeral Mass. The readers will be Trish Gaddison, Caroline B. Jean Batiste, Tiffany Gaddison, and Regina Campbell. Mrs. Barras enjoyed shopping, traveling and playing Bingo. She loved to cook for her family and looked forward to any opportunity she had to take care of her grandchildren - they were her pride and joy. She will long be remembered for her little sayings, such as,'Hand Come and Hand Go' and 'Dont let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.' Survivors include three sons, Ronnie Davis of Alexandria, Wilmer Davis (Fanette) of Los Angeles, CA, and Terry Davis of Alexandria; six daughters, Gailar Barras Gaddison (Terry) of New Iberia, Gina Barras Campbell of Lafayette, Franca Barras Francis (Ronald) of St. Martinville, Mia Barras Brown (Don) of Pittsburg, CA, Caroline Barras Jean Batiste of Lafayette, and Edmonia Barras Taylor (Jimmy) of Tampa, FL; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Anthony Barras, Jr.; her parents, Leonard and Carolyn Mason Ledet; an infant son; four grandchildren, Anne Marie Gaddison, Dwayne Michael Roy, Gerrel Anthony Jean Batiste, and Mary Marie Gaddison; and several brothers and sisters. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be Terry Gaddison, Jr., Tramon Gaddison, Francis Barras, Dwight Roy, Ronnie Davis, Jr., and Louis Ledet. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Taylor, Terry Gaddison, Sr., Ronald Francis, Don Brown, Richard Simon, Deron Jones, Dwight Roy, Roderick Campbell, Garland Jean Batiste, and her sons, Ronnie Davis, Wilmer Davis, and Terry Davis.
