Rena Marie Batiste

ST. MARTINVILLE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Rena Marie Jean Baptiste, 91 who died Monday, June 7, 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery. Born May 12, 1919, Ms. Rena was a native and resident of St. Martinville for all her life and was a very active member of the community who started the 'Stagg St. Block Party'. Rena was a faithful member of the Notre Dame Catholic Church for many years and was also a member of the KPC Court 54, Ladies Auxiliary, and The Eastern Stars. Rena always encouraged young people to strive for the best. She will be deeply missed. Survivors include her daughter, Christine Jean Baptiste Brown and her husband, Donald Brown, of Norcross, Georgia; two grandsons, Jerome Brown, and Dontrell Brown, both of Norcross, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and god children. ; She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin 'T-Lou' Jean Baptiste; parents, Adolph Pierre and Louise Simon Pierre; two sisters, Lena Pierre, and Louisiana 'Mom Lou' Pierre; and three bothers, Lenox Pierre, Sr., Ralph Pierre, and Harry Pierre. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, June 12, 2010 from 7:00 AM until 9:45 AM at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
