Rena G. Guidry

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Rena G. Guidry, 88, who passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Cecilia from 10:00 am until 12:45 pm on Saturday.

A rosary will be prayed at 11:30 am on Saturday.

Rev. Gregory Cormier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.

Rena was a devout Catholic and a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lafayette where she served as a member of the Women’s Altar Society. She rarely missed saying her morning rosary, oftentimes in French. She was an accomplished florist, retiring after more than 20 years working with various Lafayette flower shops. As a pastime, Rena enjoyed traveling and often shared stories of her trips to other countries and of her time spent living in Bermuda in the 1950’s where her loving husband, Tom, was stationed while in the Air Force. She and Tom loved spending time at the family camps in Grand Isle and Toledo Bend where they both enjoyed being on the water and fishing. Rena was a longtime member of the St. Martin Parish Home Demonstration Club and enjoyed attending their meetings and visiting with her friends. She was also an exquisite seamstress, enjoyed doing needle work, and loved tending to her beautiful flowerbeds at home. In her later years, she never missed an opportunity to rock her grandbabies and great grandbabies. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lynne G. Carline (William) and Kathryn G. Franklin (Duard); two sons, Michael T. Guidry (Lori) and Gene E. Guidry (Theresa); son-in-law, Dorsey Quebedeaux; six grandchildren, Kristie C. Tatford (Regan), Libby F. Koepke (John), Courtney G. Lasseigne (Tyler), Emily C. Miller (Hunter), Thomas J. Guidry and Connor J. Guidry; and six great grandchildren, William Tatford, Ellet Tatford, Eliza Tatford, Finn Koepke, Wyatt Koepke, and Westin Lasseigne.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edney and Laby Daigle Guidry; her husband of 63 years, Thomas D. Guidry, Jr.; her daughter, Nancy G. Quebedeaux; and her sister, Lou Anna Hebert.

Pallbearers will be Regan Tatford, John Koepke, Hunter Miller, Thomas Guidry, Michael Guidry, and Kim Hebert.

The family extends sincere appreciation to Hospice of Acadiana for their compassionate care. They request that those who wish to express sympathy consider a donation to the organization in Rena’s name.
