St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Rena Champagne Romero, 101, who passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019, at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday at 8:00 am until 10:30 am.
Rev. Rusty P. Richard will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Rena worked for Tee Wee's Fashion in St. Martinville for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, family gatherings, watching wrestling, Wheel of Fortune, baseball, LSU and the Saints football games. She will be remembered for her kindness, zest for life, helping those in need and inviting family and friends over for a good cup of coffee. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Gerri Boudreaux and husband Gilbert of Franklin, LA; grandchildren, Scott Champagne and fiancée, Charlotte Haugen, John Champagne and spouse Shelley, Natalie Tabb and spouse Joseph, and Brody Boudreaux and spouse Amy; great grandchildren, Katie, Kristin, Allie, Grant and Rachel Champagne, Avery, Anna-Kate and Tucker Tabb, Leo, River and Lewis Boudreaux and “Baby Boudreaux on-the-way”; and a great-great grandchild, Remi Verret.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Romeal and Editha Champagne; husband, Lennis Joseph Romero; and daughter, Judy Champagne.
Pallbearers will be Brody Boudreaux, John Champagne, Scott Champagne, Joseph Tabb, Lloyd Champagne, and Hunter Verret.
Family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Al Granger and his staff, Dr. Sai Chennamsetty, Dr. Roland Degeyter, Franklin Foundation Hospital and staff, and Dr. Patlola for their care and compassion.
